UberTools (For EF2 mapping/mods/etc.)

Postby Haz » Wed Apr 23, 2003 11:24 pm

Well, I just went over to www.ritual.com to see about this new tool.

I thought it was interesting to see this on the contacts page...

For UberTools for Quake3 v 4.0 pricing...contact...

WTF ?!?!

Ok, so I go over to QERadiant.com, no mention there either about a new EF2 compat. release.

So, I'm guessing we're gonna have to wait on this? If a "free" version is ever released that is.

Hi Matt,

We will definitely be releasing a version of the tools that will allow the
mod community to build content, maps and full blown mods for EF2.

Regards -

Steve

To Whom It May Concern:

I see on your page there is mention of pricing for UberTools. I was
wondering if there were plans for a free version, at least to allow players
to make their own maps.

Well, ok, they are planning to release a version. Notice the word free was not repeated in his response. I'm hoping it was implied.

If it weren't free they'd just be shooting themselves in the foot. The mod's for EF are the main reason for it's longevity with some people.

That and the availability of custom maps, I agree. I just hope they understand that too.

Found this over at the Raven EF (Mods) forum...

...apparently that is the infamous UberTools (rather, their new version of the Radiant editor) it doesn't look any different than what most of us are used to seeing. Let's hope that is a good sign.

I hear it's supposed to be a lot like Radiant, and the "Tools" portion means it comes with modeling, tiki script, shader, etc support.

I think when they say pricing for the package, they mean for other q3 v4.0 engines. As in, they wrote Ubertools, and are willing to sell it along with their packaging.
People with signatures suck!!!! Oh wait. Nevermind.

looks like rad to me

wonder how long it will take for GTK to support it.

is that a maxim magazine on the right hand side...?

Yes it is. Denise Richards is on the cover. Feb. 2001 issue.

No, I didn't know that by heart. I looked it up on their site.

Interesting side note, Jeri Ryan was on the cover for June 2002.

Ok, so I'm killing time before I have to run out the door to work...

...thinks, hmm, lets dig out one of the PK3 files from the demo...

...thinks, hmmm, lets try using BSPC-GUI on it....

BSPC version 1.9a, Mar 27 2001 16:49:01 by Mr Elusive with Raven modifications
bsp2map: C:\Documents and Settings\MSL\Desktop\m7l1a-attrexian_colony-d.bsp to m7l1a-attrexian_colony-d.map
unknown BSP format FAKK, version 19

...thinks, hmm, should have known....

I actually just wanted to see how far I could get with it. I figured I might get as far as an error trying to open the map file, figured BSPC would have ignored stuff it didn't know...aparently not.
